An interactive tool to help practitioners select measures of social and emotional competence and learn about how others use those measures. This guide provides up-to-date, accessible information on measures currently available to assess the development of students’ social-emotional (SE) competencies. These measures are intended to be administered in school and after-school settings to improve teaching and learning.
Our mission is to empower educators across the nation to nurture their students’ SE competencies by increasing their capacity to choose from currently available SE measures, and use them in ways that are informative for instruction and decision-making. Specifically, we will provide guidance through a guide (online tool) for selecting and using currently available and practical SE competency measures to inform both practice and policy in schools. We are in the process of identifying measures that are currently used in practice and deemed effective by their users.
We plan to release the first public version of the Assessment Guide for educators later this year (2018). We are currently identifying measures, interviewing current users, and developing a design to make decisions easier for educators.
In the meantime for updates and information, please check out our blog to learn more about SEL assessment initiatives.
